All systems go for Corporate Charity Challenge

The second installment of the Corporate Charity Challenge was launched by the AmaZulu Community Trust on Thursday, 26 February at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Once again 16 companies have come on board to participate in the exciting six-a-side football fundraiser which kicks off next week Thursday night, 6 March at Peoples Park.

Standard Bank, Grindrod Travels and media partners East Coast Radio and Independent Newspapers have thrown their weight behind the initiative.

AmaZulu Community Trust Chairman, Lunga Sokhela said the aim behind the challenge is to raise money to run programs that will help the community.

“Today I think the Corporate Charity Challenge is all about really obviously competition which is always great, but more importantly it’s an opportunity for everyone to interact with each other, networking opportunities and having something else to talk about outside of the office.

“I think the spirit that was started last year we’d like to see growing into this year’s challenge, like seeing more of a family vibe and outing at Moses Mabhida Peoples Park,” said Sokhela.

AmaZulu Community Trust Programs Manager, Mpho Dintwa maintained that matches will be played according to FIFA standards and SAFA accredited referees we’ll be officiating over the matches in the next five weeks.

There will be one winner from the Competitive Stream and another winner from the Social Stream.

Proceeds raised from the challenge will be used in the operational cost of running programs that take place in arrears such as Ezakheni (Ladysmith), Eastern Cape, Durban which also includes rolling out bursaries for under privileged youngsters.

Supporters on the day of the matches stand a chance to win an all paid return ticket to any destination around the country courtesy of Grindrod Travels.

Entrance to the matches will be free. Matches will begin from 18h00pm – 20h00pm every Thursday for the next five weeks.
